Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)

As we have come to understand the role of trauma in behavioral health conditions, we know that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can leave lasting imprints on the body, brain, and behavior. This training offers a comprehensive introduction to the ACEs framework, an exploration of the original groundbreaking study, and an overview of best practices in identifying and mitigating ACEs to support health, healing, and happiness in those we serve.

The Housing Process Overview

The Housing Process Overview

This workshop will focus on the process of finding housing for your constituents/clients including how to assist individuals as they move into their housing and how to support them once they are housed. In particular, trainers will be addressing how to do the housing process in a time of scarce housing resources.

The training draws from The Housing First model which addresses homelessness among people with mental health and substance use disorders. The Housing First model is a proven, effective, cost-saving approach for both the street-dwelling homeless and those staying in shelters, jails, state hospitals, or other institutions. Its philosophy and practices also can be applied to families experiencing homelessness.

Trainers:

Breah Anderson and Lindsay Cutler have delivered The Housing First curriculum at a statewide level for over 5 years. Breah works at the House of Hope as the Director of Housing and Lindsay Cutler is the former Community Programs Manager at the RI Coalition for the Homeless.
